On October 25, 2023, President Biden called on Congress to invest $16 billion of domestic emergency spending in the 2024 budget for child care stabilization, and we want to join our voices to emphasize this call!
We all know there’s something powerful and exciting about receiving a piece of mail (especially when it’s not a bill), and we want to bring that personal touch to our outreach to legislators. Our members have created a fun holiday and winter themed coloring sheet to send to legislators with a simple message- “This holiday season, give the gift of affordable childcare. Support investing $16 billion in the budget for child care.”
Campaign for Childcare has identified 5 members of the House of Representatives who have supported pro-family policies in previous legislation and have the power to affect the budget. These members are either on the Appropriations Committee or the Committee on Education and Workforce and hail from 3 states: California, Ohio, and Oregon. If you live in one of these states, you will be mailing your coloring sheet to the identified members below- go one step further and try to get 5 people in your network to do the same! We want each office to receive enough personalized mailers that it makes an impact: at least 40 separate pieces of mail per Congressperson.
If you do not live in one of these states, this action is still for you! Send your coloring sheet to your own Representative- you can use this site to find them and their Washington, D.C. address!
Here are the five Congresspeople we are targeting with this action:
Lori Chavez-DeRemer (OR): 1722 Longworth House Office Building; Washington, D.C. 20515-3705
David Joyce (OH): 2065 Rayburn House Office Building; Washington, D.C. 20515-3514
Michelle Steel (CA): 1127 Longworth House Office Building; Washington, D.C. 20515-0545
